“MATERICA. Tra design e saper fare”, curated by Paola Bellin and Luciano Setten, is an exhibition organised by [e]DesignFestival as a stand-alone secondary event of the Venice Design Biennal 2023. It took place from 19 May to 18 June 2023 in Venice at the Fabrica 33 exhibition space in Cannaregio.
A range of selected design pieces were on display at the exhibition, including Polet, an iconic armchair/bed designed by Achille Castiglioni and reinterpreted by Twils.
Polet is a bed that becomes an armchair. More precisely, a throne, with its high backrest it becomes a delightfully playful yet functional piece of furniture, originally designed some 30 years ago. Castiglioni designed Polet to include a simple system, one that can be opened and closed with extreme ease.
